Dear Parents and Carers

A very warm welcome back to the new school year. We hope you have managed to enjoy some special family time over the summer break. The children have settled back into school life so well today and were excited in assembly to talk about the things they are aiming for during this academic year – from achieving a Headteacher’s award to becoming a school ambassador.

We are really looking forward to another incredibly successful year this year. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please speak to your child’s classteacher. Equally, Mr Williams and myself are always available on the gates at the beginning and the end of the school day.

Below is some important information regarding organisation for the first few weeks.

New Staff

I am delighted to welcome Mrs Boxall, who joins us as a Teaching Assistant. She will be working in Oak and Apple classes and is already building great relationships with the staff.

Equally, we welcome Mr Federico who has started as our Site Maintenance Assistant. He will be opening up the school in the mornings and you will see him around the site, I am sure.

The School Day

As you know, we now have a slightly longer school day. Our school gates will continue to open at 8:35am ready for a prompt 8:40am start.

We will finish at 3:20pm and we ask you to prioritise picking up your children from Reception and Key Stage 1 before going around to pick up their siblings from Key Stage 2.

PE days

Below are the days the children will have PE. We ask that the children wear their PE kit into school on the days when they have PE.

Forest School

​

This half term, Maple and Oak will have a Forest School session. Maple class will be a Monday afternoon and Oak will be a Tuesday afternoon. This will be starting from Monday 9^th September. Further information will be sent out to these two classes about what will be needed.

Meet the Teacher meetings

At the start of the year, we will have ‘Meet the Teacher’ meetings to find out lots of important information about your child’s year group. This is also an opportunity to meet your child’s class teacher and ask any questions that you may have. The following dates and times for the meetings are:

• Year 6 – 4^th Sep (3:25pm in the hall)
• Year 5 – 4^th Sep (3:25pm in the hall)
• Reception – 19^th Sep (2:30pm in the hall)
• Year 1 and 2 – 19^th Sep (3:00pm in the hall)
• Year 3 and 4 – 19^th Sep (3:25pm in the hall)

Permission consents on Arbor

We have now set up all of the consents that we need for your children on Arbor. So when we have some amazing photos to share of your children on the website we can easily check whether you have given consent. Equally, we can check to see whether we have permission to take you child on a local school trip. Simply go to their 'Profile' on Arbor to update your consent.

You can also add emergency contact details and update any medical information on their profiles too.

Wed 18^th Sep – First Aid Workshop for Year 5 and 6

Thurs 19^th Sep – Welcome Party for Parents and Carers on the field organised by Kingsham PTA.

24^th to 27th September - Kingswood Residential Trip for Year 6 pupils will be.

Wed 2^nd Oct – Open Afternoon for new parents/carers. (1:30 - 3:00pm)

Tues 8^th Oct – Bookfest

Thurs 10^th October – Individual School Photos

21^st Oct – 1^st November – HALF TERM

Mon 11^th Nov – NHS flu nasal sprays (information to follow)

Tues 12^th Nov – Open Afternoon for new parents/carers. (1:30 - 3:00pm)
